Library Ireland Week 2012 (12th – 18th November, 2012)

Following on from the success of Library Ireland Week 2011, when over 350 events were posted on the Library Ireland Week website, 448 people entered our facebook draw and there were over 20,000 views of the Library Ireland Week video on Youtube; the Taskforce on Library Ireland Week and the Executive Board have agreed the following for Library Ireland Week 2012.

Library Ireland Week 2012 will be moved from March to the 2nd week in November (12th – 18th November, 2012).  Feedback suggested that March was a very busy month for events, not only in public libraries so it is proposed to move Library Ireland Week to November on an experimental basis.

Library Ireland Week 2012 will be for Librarians and Information Workers

Library Ireland Week 2012 will be used to promote the Library Association through the profession

The Taskforce suggests that we hold a Library Ireland Day and Night, with a high impact event which has national appeal and that libraries will be invited to run events and participate in other promotional activities, as they have other years.

Planning for Library Ireland Week 2012 will commence in earnest in January, when a theme will be chosen. If you have any ideas about the theme for 2012 and/or would like to take part in organising LIW 2012, please contact Jane Cantwell, jcantwell at waterfordcity.ie, phone 051 849839.
