“Intelligent resources: Diverse users and the future of the library”

The LAI Munster Section is running an evening seminar on Monday 22nd March at 7.00 – 9.00pm at Douglas Library, Cork.  This event is free and open to both LAI members and non-members.

This is a great opportunity to learn about new and different initiatives happening in libraries in Munster, including CorkPAL, Cork City Library’s Housebound Service and St John’s College Library. Speakers will talk about providing services for different library users and we also have the poet Gerry Murphy giving us his perspective on libraries.

More information about the speakers and venue is available on our web page.

The seminar is free but please confirm your attendance with Matthew Farrell by email: matthew_farrell@corkcity.ie or phone:  (0)21 4924950 by Thursday 18th March 2010.

AGM Munster Regional Section – Wednesday 13 May 2009 7.30pm

OPEN INVITATION TO ALL LIBRARY STAFF

The Annual General Meeting of the Munster Regional Section of the Library Association of Ireland will take place on Wednesday, 13th of May at 7.30pm in Tory Top Road Library, Cork, and will be followed by a tour of the Library with an open discussion hosted by Mary Corcoran, Executive Librarian.

We would like to encourage all members to attend and to spread the word among your work colleagues and with any libraries you have contact with. It was never more important a time to have a forum/voice for those who work in libraries. This is your chance to contribute to future events and make sure they are relevant to you and to tell us how we can represent your professional interests. Come along, support the event and make the Munster Regional Section your own.

Tory Top Road Library is one of the newest libraries in the Cork City Libraries system and is well worth a visit. For more information and location map and directions go to: http://www.corkcitylibraries.ie/yourlibraries/torytoplibrary/
