The Royal Irish Academy Library holds the largest collection of medieval manuscripts containing medical texts in Irish. Through these manuscripts, our new exhibition aims to highlight a lesser known aspect of medieval Irish society and the range of medical learning to which Irish doctors had access and which they made their own.
Monday - Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Free. Groups by appointment. Occasionally access to the exhibition area is limited due to conferences.

Gaelic Medical Learning and its Cultural Afterlife : Lunchtime Lecture Series

In association with the Irish Texts Society, the library has organised a series of Lunchtime Lectures to accompany our current exhibition. Join us on 18 November 1pm at Academy House for a lecture by Dr David Edwards, UCC ‘The changing world of a Gaelic medic: Dermot O’Meara and early Stuart Ireland’
