Access+Evidence: Information for Policy | A Government Libraries Section Seminar

On 31 January 2014 the Government Libraries Section of the Library Association of Ireland hosted a one-day seminar on information, evidence and policy in the public sector in Ireland.
The theme for the morning session was information for evidence-based policy which examined the connection between information, research and policy-making in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The keynote speaker was Prof Frances Ruane, Director of the Economic and Social Research Institute and co-editor of the recently-published Using Evidence to Inform Policy (2013: Gill & Macmillan). This session showcased the new Documents Laid website developed by the Oireachtas Library and Research Service.
The theme for the afternoon session was access to public sector data and information which examined recent open access developments and initiatives in Ireland. The showcase for this session was T-Stór, the Open Access Repository developed by the Teagasc Library and Information Service.
