Your Association Needs You! Library Ireland Week 2013

Library Ireland Week will take place from the 11th – 15th November 2013.The week aims to raise the profile of libraries and information service professionals and gives libraries and information services the opportunity to showcase their resources, facilities, events, contacts and services through different programs and events. Library Ireland Week provides an opportunity to:

  • recognise the vital role which libraries and information services play in research and education;
  • expose the wide range of services offered by public libraries
  • recognise the contribution of specialist libraries in corporations, government departments, hospitals and other institutions;
  • debate our information future and government approaches to it;
  • emphasise the significance of libraries in the maintenance of our history and culture at community and national levels;
  • recognise the importance of library and information services as providers of services for people who may otherwise be disadvantaged by their lack of access to information and services;
  • Consider the role which libraries play in our local community, academic, work and personal life.

The Library Association of Ireland Task Force on Library Ireland Week 2013 is seeking representatives from across the various sectors to work on LIW 2013. If you would like to be involved, please contact Georgina Byrne.
