Are you an aspiring genealogist or a local history researcher or are you interested in tracing the history of your family, area or club. Drop into our Local History Clinic in Central Library from 2:30pm – 4pm on Wednesday 30 November and our Local Studies Staff will show you our collections and help you make a plan to get started with your research. Did you know what with your library card you can use any library PC to access The Irish Newspaper Archive online digital archive of regional weekly editions including The Munster Express and out of print publications such as the Freeman's Journal and The Nation dating back as far as 1763 as well as The Irish Times Digital Archive including all articles published by the Irish Times from 1859 onwards. You can also access, the world's largest online collection of family history records - currently more than 14 billion, JSTOR Ireland Collection of over 90 journals and Vision-Net which contains documents filed in the Irish Companies Registration Office. Our wide range of online local studies resources are invaluable for social research and gaining a wider historical perspective on local events. This is a Library Ireland Week Event. Library Ireland Weeks runs from Monday 28 November to Saturday 3 December. Libraries connect people’s lives and have a fabulous array of digital resources and services available for free including online courses, language learning, business resources, e-magazines and local history resources.
