The Government Libraries Section of the Library Association of Ireland invites you to a one-day seminar on information, evidence and policy in the public sector in Ireland.

The theme for the morning session is information for evidence-based policy and will examine the connection between information, research and policy-making in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The keynote speaker is Prof Frances Ruane, Director of the Economic and Social Research Institute and co-editor of the recently-published Using Evidence to Inform Policy (2013: Gill & Macmillan). This session will showcase the new Documents Laid website developed by the Oireachtas Library and Research Service.

The theme for the afternoon session is access to public sector data and information and will examine recent open access developments and initiatives in Ireland. The showcase for this session is T-Stór, the Open Access Repository developed by the Teagasc Library and Information Service.

Audience: information, research and policy professionals in the public sector; students in social and information sciences disciplines

Cost: €35 per delegate (includes lunch)
