Munster Regional Section

The Munster Regional Section represents the interests of LAI members working in the South of Ireland and library staff generally.

The Section organises 3-4 activities annually, including a one day seminar, a series of evening lectures, social gatherings, and visits to libraries and other places of interest. The group aims to inform and educate library staff in the Munster region, as well as providing opportunities for social interaction. A Committee is elected at the AGM and all LAI members are welcome. The Committee meets several times a year.

AGM Munster Regional Section – Thursday 20 May 2010 –  7.30pm

OPEN INVITATION TO ALL LIBRARY STAFF

The Annual General Meeting of the Munster Regional Section of the Library Association of Ireland will take place on Thursday, 20th of May at 7.30pm in Blackpool Library, Cork City.

The venue : Blackpool Library is the newest library of Cork City Libraries.  Opened on 15 April 2010, it is situated on the first and second floors of new premises on Redforge Road, between the shopping centre and the Marian shrine in Blackpool.

Annual Seminar – “Intelligent resources: Diverse users  and the future of the library” Monday 22nd March 2010 7.00-9.00pm Douglas Library, Cork

 

The LAI Munster Section is running an evening seminar on Monday 22nd March at 7.00 – 9.00om at Douglas Library, Cork.  This event is free and open to both LAI members and non-members.

Event:  This is a great opportunity to learn about new and different initiatives happening in libraries in Munster, where speakers will talk about providing services for different library users. We also have the poet Gerry Murphy giving us his perspective on libraries. You will also have a chance to visit the new Douglas Library and network with other library professionals.

This is easily reached by bus from the city centre and there is free parking in the shopping centre. Charity Pub Quiz Thursday 5th November 2009 8.00pm

Given the success of our previous pub quizes we’ve decided to run another pub quiz this time in support of Meals on Wheels in Cork. It will be on Thursday 5th November at 8.00pm in the Spailín Fánac, South Main Street, Cork. Tables of 4 cost €20.  Please come along and support the section while having a great night out!
