As part of the annual Library Ireland Week celebrations, the sector aims to give an opportunity to highlight colleagues who represent the best of our profession. Our Library Ireland Week theme for 2021 was ‘Our Future Story: Recharge, Reconnect & Re-emerge’ and library staff across Ireland were invited to nominate colleagues for recognition for this award. This award is an all-island initiative, supported and sponsored jointly by the Library Association of Ireland and CILIP Ireland.
All nominations have been reviewed by the judging panel and we are delighted to announce the following shortlist for the LAI/CILIP Ireland Library Staff Champion Award:
- Natasha Smith, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda
- Raquel Murillo Diestro, Fingal Libraries
- Martin O’Connor, UCC Library
- Sarah Reidy, Dublin City Libraries
- Helen Fallon, Maynooth University Library
- Sharleen McAndrew, Galway Public Libraries
- Liz Dore, UL Library
The judges where hugely impressed with the nomination statements for all nominees and offer their congratulations to all and thanks to those who took the time to nominate colleagues. Nominators all spoke with admiration about how their colleagues had inspired them and those around them in their everyday work and engagements.
The winner of this year’s LAI/CILIP Ireland Library Staff Champion Award will be announced at the LAI AGM on Thursday 28th April 2022.
